Diana is an environmental professional with a high work capacity and strong analytical and problem solving abilities. She has a warm facilitative approach and strong relationship management skills. Diana is used to working in demanding environments where priorities compete and frequently shift. She is comfortable judging and assessing priorities quickly and adjusting accordingly.

 

Her most recent experience as the Environmental Planning Manager at the Stockton opencast coal mine required the specialist project management of environmental aspects of the large-scale ($NZ1B value) Cypress Mining Project - a high profile and environmentally contentious project with complex environmental challenges requiring world-first innovations. Key aspects of her role included budget management ($NZ47M), systematic risk identification and management, approvals compliance and reporting, consultation with stakeholders, science and research management, the establishment of a comprehensive environmental monitoring programme, and the development of a training programme to managerial level. In addition to the above, Diana also managed Stockton's complex and substantial approvals process, the site's ecological and vertebrate pest control programme (FY2012 $NZ1M), and was the contract manager for a site-based environmental contractor (up to 50 staff).

 

Diana's previous experience has involved rigorous scientific investigation and research across a broad range of environmental issues, developing and implementing environmental awareness and training programmes and waste management programmes, undertaking and peer reviewing ecological assessments, and developing AEEs, resource consent applications and various other approval applications including wildlife permits, NZ Historic Places Trust permits, affected party approvals and concessions.
